Development of the scaffold began in August, 2006 and it was authoritatively opened on September 8, 2010.[3] The Chinese development organization, "Significant Bridge Construction, China," fabricated the extension. The undertaking included an expense of Taka 590 crore, including a remote trade part of Taka 3.72 billion given by the Kuwait Fund.
The scaffold is 950 m long and 24.47 m wide. It has five docks with three 200 m extradosed primary ranges, two 115 m side ranges and a 130 m approach viaduct section.[3] Alongside four paths for vehicles, the extension has two 1.5 m paths for development of 'manual transports resembles rickshaws, push trucks and vans. There is likewise a 1.5 m walkway on each side of the scaffold. The extension has a 0.5 km approach street in the city end and one km approach street at the Patiya end.
